TERMINATION SAGA: Maxi Chocomilo, J Fly And Ethrice Ekpen Finally Talks About The Terminated Contract

Source: Facebook

Prior to this week, like a bucket of feather thrown off balance, the news of E-One Records terminating the contract of their most celebrated artists, Maxi Chocomilo and JFly, was all over the city of Port Harcourt and beyond. Like an ignorant mind would think, many thought the cause of the contract termination was as a result of the artists attitude as one of Port Harcourt's biggest record label executive, Kingsley Anu has emphatically noted earlier to be his challenge with most artists.

In a rigorous pursuit for the truth, Rhemacity Blog as you all know to be a truth finding Blog went on an interview tour. The first person to be contacted was the CEO, E-One Records, Ethrice Ekpen while the artists in question were later interviewed. It might surprise you to know that the unraveled truth has every reason to be doubted. But for the fact that it was revealed to be the cause of the termination of contract, we just need to put away every sense of doubt and believe it as it was revealed.

First, In a conversation with Ethrice Ekpen the CEO, E-One Records, Rhemacity Blog deduced according to the letter that, the artists Unruly behaviour, lack of respect for the management and breach of contract led to the termination of the contact. Ethrice Ekpen was asked to explain in a quite explicit terms what he meant by those phrases said to be the reason for terminating the artists contact, he had this to say;

"It's  straight forward thing bro... Lack of respect for management, breach of contract terms is going against what Eone Records Contract says to project their image and that of the brand".

He further explained,

"Unruly behaviour is behaviour capable of destroying the image of the brand and the artise".

In an organised body of individuals with great intellectual property, airing out one's view is of great importance to the progress of such institution. Rhemacity Blog ask Ethrice Ekpen if he did unravel his grievance to the artists in question. Here's what he said.

"Yes several times. They promise to change but didn't and so to save them and our brand. The decision have to be reach to let them go".

Nevertheless, Rhemacity Blog could not have been satisfied with that saying of his, he was further asked to clearly outline the behaviors exhibited by the artists which led to such a stiff penalty. He stated them to be;

 "Performing in unauthorized places without the consent of label, saying things when with people that goes against the brand the label is pushing for the Artiste and self".

So Could it be said that the contract he had with the artists of which was terminated was in the best interest of the artists and the management? We never should conclude. Let's hear what Maxi Chocomilo has to say about this contract termination saga. Note, Ethrice Ekpen said they went about dissing  the Label in the hearing of other persons not belonging to the label.

Moving over to Maxi Chocomilo, the Harmattan crooner, Rhemacity Blog asked him some questions. He was asked to stipulate what led to his terminated contract as there are many controversy surrounding it. Replying Rhemacity Blog's request he had this to say. Although, he spoke like a real Port Harcourt boy, he spoke pidgin. His reply;

"Baba mi no be small thing o. That guy package ehn na zero zero. Everything wey hin promise us, hin no dey do. Everything" He emphatically stated. He proceeded, "hin promise us feeding money, we never see for seven months now. Hin promise us house, hin sign me for Lagos, bring me come Port Harcourt make we come do promo, then talk say Okay, hin won rent house for me and Jfly.. since December I dey Port Harcourt till now I no see house. The stress is too much Artists are suffering ".

While all this was being said you could vividly see the pains in Maxi's eyes while the pain he has nursed over the months could be felt in his voice. He went further as his grievance is yet to be completely expressed.

"Okay give us management to manage us, he brought A4 to manage us. The A4 he signed five years ago wey nothing happen".

Baba! He groaned, "the stress is much".

He continued, " okay you don bring me come Port Harcourt, my stuff that's in Lagos, let me go and get it. He said, 'it's not his business'. Na question wey we just ask am, 'Boss but you are not doing what you said you are going to do' nai hin carry hin hand give us termination letter".

At this point, confusion could set in gradually as Ethrice Ekpen was asked if there was any active management responsible for the artists well being. He affirmed emphatically that,

"Eone Records got a manager and so many others working under it. Even me. I'm always on ground to handle whatever thing disturbing any of my artistes, worker or fans".

Now the question is, how could this management be active and Maxi complained of suffering being the order of the day. Who are we going to believe?

Rhemacity Blog still not satisfied, asked Maxi,

 "Now you're talking about the luxuries. What about the recording contract, did he fulfill that?"

Maxi replied,

"Are you hearing any of my song in your street? Do you know that harmattan promo I did the running? the only thing he sent was twenty-five thousand naira only. Please I don't want to talk about it. It's history now. If you were to be an artist you will not chill. And besides he terminated our contracts. So if it's artist problem,  you feel his two artist are both not good? If you are an artist or u have some one I prefer you get him sign to him. Person way no go no no. I have screenshots of all our conversation Eone and I. Please if you are an artist and you are signed to a label and you agreed with your Label about you apartment, then they told you is ready. After seven months nothing to show. Is it wrong to ask? When you don't have where to stay? What the record label is supposed to do is to encourage you and make provision not to bridge the contract by terminating it. I have been working hard alone to build my brand before E-One. So Eone did not make me. He signed me, now he got the fame. Boss with all humility, when a label signs an artist, it's for the label to do what the artist cannot do for himself. Not to struggle in it."

So what's your plan now... it seems JFLY has signed a contract with a record company.

Let's watch God in moves.

So do you plan to move to lagos or you would love to remain here in Port Harcourt?

Don't want to talk about it. wherever I find myself I will influence the world.

Having concluded the unprecedented interview with Maxi, Rhemacity Blog employed the same tactic with Jfly who never wanted to say anything about the termination letter. Read what ensued in the unprecedented conversation.

The termination of the contract you had with E-One records spiked a lot of controversy on social media recently. You made an official statement though. But what exactly happened? Let's hear your part of the story please!

"Hmmmm  my new management advice I don't say a word about this now, with time the whole world will know what really happened but for now am sorry Mr Tams my silent is Golden. I have alot of projects am working on now and It's taking my time".

Of course you should know Rhemacity Blog's capability by now, the burning words inside of him (Jfly) was left with no option than to spill out of his mouth after the services of exicter (a french word which means "to stimulate one's feelings") was employed to make him speak.

He said,

"I was signed into a label that claim they did this and that for me ... Please, my Brother, Google the two songs I dropped in that label and tell me which known site has it? My leaving that label was a dream come through. But soon, I will sing my own song and I pray he (Ethrice Ekpen) also dance like am dancing now to his sweet music. They wanted to destroy my career and the name I have worked out to build .. thank God he came to my rescue because he alone  (God) know the true stories. Music business is not everybody's business.. one who has got one million or two million will say he wants to open up a record label and start promising the artist everything it is well, God bless you for your concern! Am still here dancing to E-One music."

Finally we've heard from the parties involved. Now which are we to believe. It's up to you, My most valuable reader. By the way, JFly said he has a new label now, well! all we could do now is to wish him good luck and support his brand massively. As for Maxi, he needs our massive support.
