I Don't Understand Why It Absolutely Had To Cost $14billion - ALEXEI NAVALNY Shares His Thoughts On World Cup Expenses

Immediately after the opening game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Alexei  Navalny, a Russian lawyer and political activitist popularly known for his anti-corruption investigations that target top officials in Russia, was explicit enough to reveal that the opening game between Russia and Saudi Arabia was indeed "absolutely brilliant."  The game which ended in the Russian Team defeating Saudi Arabia with 5-0 gave Navalny the privilege to unravel his thoughts in this way, in his words he put it this way, "It's great that Russia has this festival of football, but I don't understand why it absolutely had to cost you and me $14billion."

Based on the ruble-dollar rate, the total cost have been estimated to $13.2billion and you would recall that it was earlier stated that the total cost was $14billion. Could it Russia have imbibed the nature of Nigerians? Read what Navalny has to say.

 “I would like the World Cup 2018 to be held for a reasonable amount of money, I don’t see it as a problem to simultaneously be glad of the Russian team’s victory and at the same time to be outraged at corruption,” .

He further stated while He attacked oligarchs close to Putin who were actively involved in the construction of airports and stadia, naming billionaires Boris Rotenberg and his brother Arkady, also Gennady Timchenko, who is identified as one of Putin’s closest lieutenants.

“The Rotenbergs and Timchenko earned tens of billions of rubles. When I said earned, you have to understand stole, we understand very well, those people fantastically enriched themselves from the World Cup 2018.”

 If you are conversant with the happenings in Russia, you will recall that Navalny walked free on Thursday morning after serving a month sentence for organising an protest that was supposed to be illegal. He however expressed himself freely using the following words.

Via his tweets on his twitter account. “I’m with you again after a 30-day business trip. I’m so happy to be free,” 

Having being sentenced a month ago after calling for a protest ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s inauguration for a fourth Kremlin term. He has been imprisoned severally for his active involvement in political activities. His Lawyer and supporters, however, see the violation of his right as stated by him, as politically motivated. Navalny took to his Instagram account to make a post on how jail conditions had improved ahead of the World Cup 2018, including the installation of modern toilets and even goal posts for football games. He later emphasized these words of his to be untrue.
