Blowing In Port Harcourt Is Like Blowing In Nigeria Again, ICON Rejects His Motherland

The Port Harcourt born reggae-pop and classic artiste, Nwaerema Cyprain Jacob popularly known by his stage name, ICON currently rounding-off his academic year in Accra, Ghana, has openly declared his intention to stay off the music scene in Port Harcourt upon his arrival. Claiming there are no persons to invest financially into the industry. You would recall (that's if you are a fan of the brand we are trying to buid in Port Harcourt city) that there are currently moves capable of rebranding the industry to become a force to recorn with. In ICON words, he said, "Honestly the support level is not encouraging and people are not investing financially into the industry". But there is an idea to be understood here. Does it mean that this Reggae-pop artiste, ICON, is seeking financial assistance in his music career? If you have supported this industry for a while now, you would recall that ICON featured Timaya on the album he released in 2010. Sometimes, I wonder if  artists really know what music is all about. Icon featured Timaya and he is nowhere today. He is still struggling make a come back to this competitive industry.

ICON who have completely given up on this music industry in Port Harcourt, has declared that he can't waste anymore time trying to revive what is dead. In other words he moves about with the opinion that this Industry is dead. Prior to the moves made by artists to Lagos, the center of entertainment as they call it, it is vivid that many of them that left Port harcourt for Lagos are today trying to make a comeback both in Port Harcourt city and in the state they think there is everything. This artiste, Icon, hopes to be like that someday with this dangerous move of his.

Read what he has to say;

"I think my not being around is a case for me and it's better I start up in a place where getting it once is getting it right, blowing in Port Harcourt means blowing again in Nigeria. So it's better to blow in Lagos but I still need my fanbase in Port Harcourt since it's where I learnt and improved my music skill"

 I strongly believe this young unskilled talented musician needs a mentor as he is at the verge of running into the wind of extinction with those crazy words of his. He strongly believe in having a huge fanbase here but he doesn't want to give his first best to his fanbase here in Port Harcourt. He thinks he has a fanbase here's what he said, "I have a little fan base so it's all about working with bloggers and media houses in Port Harcourt, also connecting with entertainers and attending events in Port Harcourt as well". Let's see how it goes. As we all know this popular saying, "It's easier said than done".
