Oruz Kennedy, The host of 'Young Poetry Online Poetry Competition', has given an opening speech at RhemaCity Blog. The Host which has gotten the support of RhemaCity Blog, had his opening speech delivered on this platform.

A Brief Speech By, Oruz Kennedy.

I'm Oruz Kennedy and I'm a spoken word aritiste. Over the
past few months I've had the privilege of interacting with a
few young aspiring poets on social media. Through our
interactions, one thing was constant and that is: many want
to showcase their poetry but lack a platform to do so. This
was my primary motivation for setting up this online poetry
competition. Why online? Well it's because I'd not want
anyone to have the constraint of being physically present at
this initial stage. I do need to see underground poets
surface and I hope the various prizes will be a sufficient
motivation for many to come out of hiding.

The prizes are as follows:

First prize: 20,000 

Second prize: 10,000

Third prize: 5,000

Right now applications are over and the competition will be
holding from the 15th till the 29th of March.

Everything will
be online except the final day of the competition when we'll
make use of a physical location.

I do hope this effort helps catalyze interest of young poets
in their art here in Port Harcourt and I hope more people
will rise up to support poets in whatever way they can. It's
for our youths and it's for our city.
